The Top 10 Coolest Sites: Super Bowl XLVI

Well folks it’s back, and it’s bigger than ever (or so NBC will be telling you prior to the Super Bowl returning to the network this year!). The New England Patriots take on bitter rivals New York Giants in a mouthwatering clash that gives the Pats a chance to take revenge for defeat to the Giants in 2008′s Super Bowl. Our contribution at AllMyFaves is to provide you with the best sites you’re going to need to make this a great Super Bowl experience… and here they are:

1. The Site for the Football Beginner:

A good starting point for football novices and hardcore fans alike.                                      The NFL Official Website is easy to navigate around, great looking, and packed full of news, pre-game coverage, schedules, stats, team pages, fantasy drafts and much more.

2. The Site for the Football Junkie with a Smartphone:

You’ve gotta love smartphones. They’ve made it so, so easy to get all the info we need on the go; and luckily for us the NFL is playing ball. This handy NFL Smartphone Apps Library may not be filled with colorful pictures of the smartphone apps it’s featuring, but it’s so useful. With Apple & Android apps for anything football, from the Official Super Bowl Guide to 3D Live NFL Wallpapers, click here to decide which NFL apps you want to download to enhance your Super Bowl XLVI experience!

3. The Site for the Stats Addict / John Madden Wannabe:

We all know they’re out there, the Stats Addicts, the would-be John Maddens: Waiting for that perfect moment at the Super Bowl BBQ to jump in with a clever stat about which quarterback has thrown the most touchdown passes in this year’s NFL. Well if that’s you, and you want to get your stats and random Super Bowl facts up to speed before the big game, you need to get yourself onto the remarkably comprehensive Pro-Football-Reference.com ASAP!

4. The Site for the Person who’s more interested in the half time Ads:

Everybody knows just how big a deal the Super Bowl half time ads are. Companies will pay millions of dollars to get their product in front of the millions of eyeballs glued to the action. And they’re a heck of a lot more fun to watch than the usual unimaginative commercials. Youtube Ad Blitz is a great channel on Youtube that compiles all the best Super Bowl ads for you to watch and share; and adds in a load of extra content related to the non-football bits that so many of us love about the Super Bowl. Click here to get viewing.

You may also want to check out the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl Contest, which is Doritos’ annual competition to select their Super Bowl ads. All the videos are made by ordinary fans, who have the chance to “crash the Super Bowl” with their video; becoming the official Doritos ad, chosen by a public vote. Check them out, they’re all pretty funny and worth a watch!

5. The Site for the Football Fan WAGs who are more interested in Cute Puppies:

If the football’s not really you’re thing, or maybe not your significant other’s thing, all hope of getting involved in the Super Bowl fun is not lost, thanks to Animal Planet. They’re bringing us their 8th Annual Puppy Bowl – a Super Bowl for cute puppies! What more could you want! Click here to take a look at the rather adorable starting lineups.

6. The Site for the Last Minute Ticket Hunter:

Stub Hub’s got a whole host of last minute tickets for this year’s Super Bowl. They’re all available at the click of a button, although the prices are really crazy. But hey, if you gotta go, you gotta go! Click here if you’re interested in buying that golden ticket, or even just curious as to how much it’d cost you…

7. The Site for… the Patriots Fan!

WEEI.com – Pats news from local Pats fans. Who needs ESPN when you’ve got these die hard Bostonians feeding you all the news and podcasts you need about the team you love!?

And as a little bonus for Patriots who are also music fans out there, Running Back Stevan Ridley has even made a Spotify Playlist of the songs he’ll be psyching himself up with in his pre Super Bowl routine. If you have Spotify, you can check it out here!

8. The Site for… the Giants Fan!

CBS New York – A great page from local NY CBS radio station WFAN, filled with local Giants news, for any Giants fan. It’s got everything you need, from stats, rosters, latest news to Podcasts about your team.

9. The Site for the Armchair Fan with a PC, but no TV:

Watch the Super Bowl Live Online, on NBC – Haven’t got a TV? Away from the one you do have? Never fear, because for the first time, the Super Bowl is being streamed completely live online via NBC’s Super Bowl Website. Check out all the pre game buzz now, and check back again on Sunday to catch the entire game live!

10. The Site(s) for the Football Intelligencia: Best Football Blogs

I couldn’t pick just one blog here, because there’s too many great choices. But here’s three that really stand out for interesting content: 1. Grantland – long articles, in-depth analysis, with a touch of humor 2. The Fifth Down – comprehensive, covers interesting stories, but then it is the NY Times NFL Blog so it delivers where we’d expect it to! 3. SBNation Super Bowl Special – site for all things football, made by fans, for fans.

Did we miss anything? What do you think of our choices? Let us know in the comments section below! We at All My Faves are committed to bringing you the Best of the Web, for any interest. Check out our Ultimate Sports Homepage, and then add it to your own personalized homepage too.

GiftRocket – Personalized Gift Cards for Absolutely Any Business!

GiftRocket – Welcome, ladies and gents, to the gift card of the future: An online gift card that can be used absolutely anywhere, on anything, at any time… Without ever running out or taking up space in your wallet! GiftRocket achieves this by being a money transfer from you to a friend or loved one, that they can receive straight into their bank account, PayPal account or as a check in the mail. And that money transfer also comes with a cute e-greeting (in either an email or a Facebook message) that tells you where to spend that money.

You get to choose how you receive your gift, what you spend it on, and when!

The idea being that if your son-in-law sends you a GiftRocket card that says “Hey Judy, happy birthday, here’s $50 to spend on a lovely dinner at that restaurant I’ve been raving about, [insert restaurant name]!”… then you would probably take your son-in-law’s recommendation, and redeem your gift money at that restaurant. But if you would rather go somewhere else, spend it on something else, or save the money for a later date, you can do so without ever worrying that you’d lose or waste the gift card without ever using it! Click here or on our preview below to give GiftRocket a try!

Foodpairing – Discover a World of New Flavour Combinations!

Food Pairing – Chocolate & Chili: Yay or nay? It would appear the great chefs of the world are bored with the usual food combinations we’ve come to expect (fish ‘n’ chips anyone?). They’re exploring ways to make our culinary experiences more interesting, diverse and tasty; pairing foods, ingredients and flavors that we never knew could go together. And FoodPairing is at the forefront of this tasty trend.

Food Pairing is a great looking, interactive website created lovingly by the chefs and food scientists at research company ‘Sense for Taste’. It generates a dynamic ‘FoodPairing Tree’ for any ingredient, with all the possible flavor combinations that would go well with that ingredient circling around it. The closer another ingredient is to it in the tree, the better the combination will taste! Below is a tree for cucumber. You can see that Beijing roast duck goes slightly better with cucumber than country ham, because it’s positioned closer to the center, but they would both still work as flavor combinations! It’s currently being used by more than 200,000 professional chefs, food enthusiasts and mixologists per year, so if it’s good enough for them, imagine how impressive you’re going to look with your imaginative recipes at your next dinner party! Click here or on the Cucumber FoodPairing Tree below to discover a whole new world of flavor combinations.

This is a dynamic 'food pairing tree' for cucumber. There's so many cool new flavor combinations to try!

If you love cooking, but are looking for new recipes, why not try our All My Faves Homepage for the Top Recipes Sites? I guarantee you’ll find something tasty on there, although whether it will sound as fun as cucumber and Costa Rica dark chocolate remains to be seen ;)

Grouchy Rabbit – Funny Facts, Definitions & Tips for Success

Definition: Internet (noun) – Time thief.

Or more to the point, Grouchy Rabbit is, an albeit rather amusing, time thief! Made by the same people who brought you entertaining weekly fave alumni I Waste So Much Time and Attack of the Cute, Grouchy Rabbit follows the same idea of rating funny stuff. Here, you’ll be reading something amusing (like the above statement), whether it be a ‘Fact’, ‘Sign that things aren’t going so well’, or ‘Tip for success’, and then rating it either “Hilarious!”, “Boring” or “What the what!”

Very easy to dive in and out of for a couple of minutes over your coffee break, it’s funny, free and doesn’t require you to do anything other than be entertained! Try it by clicking here, or on the (arguably) funny statement below :)

Dogs in Cars – The Pawsome Viral Video Hit by Keith Hopkin!

Dogs in Cars is an utterly charming 5 minute video created by the rather talented Keith Hopkin, starring Man’s very own best friend. It’s a beautifully shot slow motion video of a group of amazingly expressive dogs taking rides in cars, with a perfect accompanying song by promising Australian band ‘The Pains of Being Pure at Heart’. I watched it and couldn’t help but smile, and I’m not even particularly a “dog person”.

Click on Pinky to watch the glorious short video, Dogs in Cars!

As one of the comments states underneath the video, Keith Hopkin has perfectly captured the sheer euphoria dogs (probably) feel when they stick their heads out of moving car windows! It’s fun, free, and 5 minutes long. Watch and enjoy :)

TripAroundTheGlobe – Fun, Interactive Geography Trivia Game

Trip Around the Globe is one of the most innovative, fun free flash trivia games I’ve played on the internet in a long time! If you’re into your geographically related general knowledge quizzes, you’ll definitely agree.

Travel Around the World (literally!) with this fun Trivia game

You control a little red car with the arrows on your keyboard, driving it over a big rotating globe. When you drive through a question mark icon you answer a question (“Where did Napoleon die?” for example); and then if you get it correct, have to drive as quickly as possible to the country related to the answer of that question (so in this case, you would have to drive your car to France!).

It’s timed, and you just get through as many questions and countries as you can before it runs out. There’s a leaderboard to see how you’ve fared against the rest of the world too. Click on the pics, or here, to see how well you can do! Post your scores below, and see if you do better than me! :)

Drive around the world with this Geographical Trivia Trip! What score can you get?

Cowaboom – Game of the Week – Angry Cows!

Cowaboom! – If you liked Angry Birds, you’ll love this! It may as well be called Angry Cows, because that’s basically what it is: You launch a humorously aggressive cow into a big group of bulls, and try to get as many points as possible by hitting them. It’s fun, click here or click on the pics to have a quick play!
