Well folks it’s back, and it’s bigger than ever (or so NBC will be telling you prior to the Super Bowl returning to the network this year!). The New England Patriots take on bitter rivals New York Giants in a mouthwatering clash that gives the Pats a chance to take revenge for defeat to the Giants in 2008′s Super Bowl. You’ve gotta love smartphones. They’ve made it so, so easy to get all the info we need on the go; and luckily for us the NFL is playing ball. Everybody knows just how big a deal the Super Bowl half time ads are. Companies will pay millions of dollars to get their product in front of the millions of eyeballs glued to the action. And they’re a heck of a lot more fun to watch than the usual unimaginative commercials. Youtube Ad Blitz is a great channel on Youtube that compiles all the best Super Bowl ads for you to watch and share; and adds in a load of extra content related to the non-football bits that so many of us love about the Super Bowl. You may also want to check out the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl Contest, which is Doritos’ annual competition to select their Super Bowl ads. All the videos are made by ordinary fans, who have the chance to “crash the Super Bowl” with their video; becoming the official Doritos ad, chosen by a public vote. Check them out, they’re all pretty funny and worth a watch!

5. The Site for the Football Fan WAGs who are more interested in Cute Puppies:

WEEI.com – Pats news from local Pats fans. Who needs ESPN when you’ve got these die hard Bostonians feeding you all the news and podcasts you need about the team you love!?

Watch the Super Bowl Live Online, on NBC – Haven’t got a TV? Away from the one you do have? Never fear, because for the first time, the Super Bowl is being streamed completely live online via NBC’s Super Bowl Website. 10. The Site(s) for the Football Intelligencia: Best Football Blogs

I couldn’t pick just one blog here, because there’s too many great choices. But here’s three that really stand out for interesting content: 1. Grantland – long articles, in-depth analysis, with a touch of humor 2. The Fifth Down – comprehensive, covers interesting stories, but then it is the NY Times NFL Blog so it delivers where we’d expect it to! 3. SBNation Super Bowl Special – site for all things football, made by fans, for fans.

Luckily for me, the delightful Roy and Shachar at All My Faves (yes, they are reading this…), invited me to come be a part of their ambitious project to turn the vast, confusing, inaccessible world of the internet into one visual page. One page where you can find the best websites for any category or interest. But also one page that contains hundreds of smaller, customizable homepages filled with specially selected sites made to satisfy your own specific niche interests for anything; from watching free TV online, to entrepreneurs, to the best music sites.

And my own personalized version gives me all of that, as well as my own ‘faves’, accessible on the computer, my friends’ iPads, and my mobile phone.

For me though, the best thing about having an All My Faves homepage is that I can customize exactly how it looks. Everything from the order and shape of the way you put your favorite sites on a homepage tab, to the actual logos of the sites is customizable. And that got me thinking. I’m from Manchester. And I’m a massive fan of Manchester United. So why not build a homepage dedicated to the team I love? For the first time I wouldn’t have to lose out on all the great Man United sites I could be using. For the first time, I would be able to access all the best news sites, blogs, sites to watch games live, sites to download match highlights, twitter feeds, and anything else Man United I could think of, all in one place! And it would look great, because I can upload my own created logos for every site.

So I built it. All My ManUtd Faves. And it soon became clear that this wasn’t going to be just a personal page for me to use. This was the sort of resource that any Manchester United supporter would find useful. It would allow them to discover and use the best sites related to their team. It would be their Big Red Tour Guide to the Big Red Internet. And all I did to create this was customize an All My Faves homepage!

What it shows you, is that you literally can make anything with a homepage, whether it’s a fan page for your soccer team, or a brand page for your business. All you need is a bit of creativity and imagination. And of course you can always tweet me on @dannyjdavies to get any hints, tips, advice or even get me to make a logo for you to use on your page!

Using patent-pending algorithms that process in-game statistics for games around the globe and television listings across the U.S. and Canada in real-time, you (and your DVR) will know when it’s time to hustle to the couch.

As an avid cyclist, I immediately took interest in Jog.fm’s playlists for riders (see screenshot below), and I must admit, it’s impressive. Available playlists can be bought (for download) or listened to online. In addition, you can always create your own playlist, but I don’t see the added value of creating a new list on an external site if you already have it on your iPhone or MP3 player. Either way, Jog.fm offers a great service and I truly believe music and workouts are a match made in heaven. I only wish they had a mobile app available.

1. Wired.com – Perhaps the most famous of the bunch, Wired is the most comprehensive content provider for the male audience. Aside from an in-depth coverage of the entire tech world, Wired magazine offers other numerous categories such as cars, entertainment, science, politics, gaming, product reviews, an immense video section and a how-to category worth checking out. Whatever section you go to, you will find exquisitely written content that will keep you engaged until the very last minute.

2. Uncrate – This marvelous men-only blog is a bundle of male joy as it covers the various aspects occupying the hipster guy’s mind: gear, style, rides, entertainment, culture, body and living.  Uncrate is beautifully designed and offers large hi-res photos in practically every post. In addition, the Gear section includes I-must-have-it gadgets and tools with price tags.

3. Cool Material – This man-centric blog might come across as fresh, but that’s just part of its charm. Cool Material is dead serious about presenting the top gear and fashion finds any urban man would crave. Although the blog points out to pricy accessories and clothes, its sense of style will fill you with inspiration and sense of chic. Here’s one of the posts I wanted to share, CXXVI Handmade iPhone Wallet. Aside from gear, Cool Material offers great content on cars, fashion, tech and media.

4. T Magazine: Men’s Fashion – The New York Times’ T Magazine is the newspaper’s sought-after style magazine that’s bursting with splendor and elegance. The T Magazine website offers a regularly updated men’s fashion section, catering to those with an especially exquisite taste of fashion. One particular post I recommend for those of you seeking fashion tips is Men’s Fashion Spring 2011, which will take you to a superb digital mag reading view.

5. The Chive – Don’t let the funny name fool you. The Chive is all about satisfying sophisticated men’s needs, be it funny videos, awesome sports game moments caught on video, or beautiful photos of sexy eye candy girls (no nudity of course). Get your manly fix on The Chive by exploring its designated sections for video, girls, funny, randomness, games and HQ. Here’s a cool photo I found here:

6. Werd.com – This site is the most sexy one of the list, and once you enter Werd you’ll see why. Each post is 75% high quality photo and 25% text, a ratio which is the winning formula in my view when it comes to entertaining men. Werd.com offers a regularly updated feed of the most posh gear, fashion and accessories, sports cars, even ‘groom,’ among other categories. Each item showcased on Werd includes a link to its respective store which allows easy purchasing. See these cool sunglasses by Oliver Peoples Bernardo as an example.

7. COED Magazine – This men’s magazine seems to be the perfect fit for young men in college. You can tell this by the title (duh), by the dominant section of girls in bikinis and the extremely dedicated coverage of Amanda Kerr. COED offers great entertaining content on movies and TV, sports, gear and style, lifestyle related posts and videos. In short, if you’re a college student and your fraternity fails to deliver the excitement you’re after, COED Magazine’s website is your spot.

8. The Awesomer – A most definite men’s website, The Awesomer constitutes one of the best time wasters for men. Aside from its rich style and gadgets categories worth exploring, The Awesomer offers great humor (in the form of photos and videos), software and website recommendations, among other fields. I suggest starting with The Awesomer’s Top Rated posts section. That’s where I found this cool Eiffel Tower skating jump (Taig Khris) video.

9. The Bleacher Report – This Top 10 list won’t be complete without at least one decent sports site. Hence, No. 9, the wonderful Bleacher Report. This sports site carries all the goodies you’d expect for a fulfilling adrenaline rush. With over 14 different sports categories, Bleacher Report covers successfully all the important events from start to finish, and offers amazing photos and videos on each page. Whether you’re more into the American baseball and football or you follow the European soccer leagues, the Bleacher Report has it all.

10. AMF’s Men MiniFaves – This designated page for men offers a comprehensive collection of top-rated websites for the male audience, including all the sites listed in this post plus many others worth checking out. Great sports, funny videos, cool fashion tips and beautiful girls – what more could a man possibly ask for? To see the entire list of sites, click the image below.

I have only two questions on my mind though: Will President Obama attend the Super Bowl this year? And which TV commercial will top the charts? According to Chiff.com, Fox will continue the record-breaking trend of charging Super Bowl spots for $3 million per 30-second commercial.

Beautifully designed and easy to navigate through, the Bleacher Report is a wonderful and intelligent sports hub you should tap into even if you’re not a big sports person. I suggest starting out with reading some of the most commented posts (scroll down on the homepage), and see for yourself why I’m so impressed. Alternatively, you can click on the photo below to read a well-written article on the Top Five Underperforming Star Players in this year’s World Cup.

Beijing 2008 Official Site – It is said that in order to prepare for the games China invested nearly $40 billion, it is a shame they haven’t invested part of it in creating a fun and appealing official site. The official site is quite dull and lacks a professional touch. However it is still the official site, maybe you will like it – I doubt it.

Collectors Item – The Official Beijing 2008 Olympic Teddy Bear Mascots. I wouldn’t be surprised if these are sold in the future as collectors’ items for more than their current face value. The 5 names of the Teddy Bear’s form the Chinese phrase “Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni“, which means “Beijing Welcomes You”.

NBC Olympics – The NBC Olympics website offers full coverage of the Olympic games. The site is very useful and is easy to navigate through, it features all your Olympic needs, such as: athlete profiles, daily online blogs, videos, photos, countries participating, sport events, a comprehensive schedule and online results. If you are an Olympic enthusiastic, this is the place for you. Additional coverage is brought to you by Yahoo Olympics and AOL Olympics. May the best man/woman/team win.

Time and Date – What is the time in Beijing? Time and Date offers not only Beijing time but an easy to use world major cities time.

Impossible is Nothing – Adidas is one the major Olympic sponsor’s, the Olympic campaign (and many other Adidas campaigns) is followed by a powerful slogan – Impossible is Nothing.  I love this slogan, it goes far beyond the spirit of sports and competitions. It is a way of thinking, a way of living. Make sure you enter the site and walk through the videos, they are inspiring. It is always interesting analyzing things backwards – Nothing is Impossible. Do you feel me?
